Yes, I have been in NYC for the last few days.

I've been in NYC for the last few days, and breaking my daily rituals has thrown me off my posting schedule. However, I have offered some commentary on my experiences on Fb and Twitter. Here they are...

That above tells the basic story. Please notice I adhered to the basic core questions that I like to ask myself in these situations: Can I get hurt? What are the chances I get hurt? Is it probable I get hurt? I then act accordingly to the data.

I was at the Strand Bookstore and loaded up on some non-ebooks, and picked up a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita is a small section of the Indian epic the Mahabharata. Although I have some knowledge of Hinduism (as many of you know by my riffing on the subject) I thought reading some of the source material would be a good way of mining more Hindu-based jokes (yes, everything is grist for the mill).

I haven't been to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC for a while, and thought it was a good idea to spend the morning and part of the afternoon there. One of the special exhibits was Tokyo 1955-1970. While the exhibit was interesting (the piece with penises hanging on netting was if nothing else interesting), there were no mutant Tyrannosaurus Rexes who breathed radioactive fire to be found. :(

I had to share my misfortune of turning on the TV in my room, and having Joel Osteen's maniacal smile breaking the peace and quiet of the morning.

I also stood in line for an our and a half to get a half priced ticket to see Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. I have to tell you all that this was my first pass at this piece (I haven't seen the classic movie as of yet), but after seeing it I'd have to say that the resolution of the conflict in act three makes more sense when looked at psycho-dynamically. It's similar to looking at a piece of modern art and appreciating it more once you understand the history and theory a bit (and that's all I have is a bit of knowledge in those areas).
