The family and I are going to Disney World in April, and the upcoming trip got me wondering. What if there was an educational theme park created by atheists about religion? And I'm not talking about a park dedicated to only Christianity either. There would be the Mohammed's Flight to Medina roller coaster as well as the Stations of the Cross mini car racetrack. However, it wouldn't be all fun and games at the Asylum (the tentative name of the park). There would be an educational aspect, just like Epcot. I propose building a Hall of Menstruation where men and women alike can learn God's rules (ahem, the Jewish God) concerning Niddah -- that certain time of the month. Here are a only a few of Yahweh's regulations that visitors can learn.
From the onset of a woman's menstrual period certain behaviors which cause the couple to be physically or passionately close together are forbidden. Not following these laws is very serious as it is expressly forbidden to come close to those with whom it is forbidden to have sexual relations.
When the woman is niddah it is forbidden for the couple to behave frivolously with one another. Joking around is expressly forbidden. Of course, the couple should not be cold or nasty towards one another. Arguments should be avoided if possible.
Even the slightest physical contact is absolutely forbidden. Additionally, they may not pass each other objects from one hand to another, as that might lead to inadvertent physical contact. One should also not touch the clothes of their spouse (while they are being worn) when the woman is niddah. (There is no restriction regarding clothing which is not being worn.)
It is permissible to throw things from one to another. However, it is commendable to be strict in this matter, and not to throw directly from one to another.
They should not light each others cigarettes since this brings closeness. However, it is permissible for a wife to hold the Havdalah candle.
On a rainy day they may walk under the same umbrella as long as they are careful not to touch.
Oh, there are more rules, believe me. You can either wait to learn the rest until the theme park has officially opened or click here.
