Have you every had a lot of respect for an entertainer? You know what I mean, you feel this connection with their work and it's as if you know them. An interview is on TV and you are soooo happy and then it turns out...
they're really into Jesus.
Luckily that did not happen with the REAL God on Earth - Joss Whedon.
From an 09-Oct-2002 Onion AV Club article titled Is There A God? (click here for link)
The Onion: Is there a God?
Joss Whedon: No.
O: That's it, end of story, no?
JW: Absolutely not. That's a very important and necessary thing to learn.
Joss Whedon is a prolific writer/director/producer and has done:
Toy Story (writer)
Alien Resurrection (writer)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (creator - movie and series)
Angel (creator/writer/director)
Firefly (creator)
Serenity (writer/director)
Dollhouse (creator/writer/director)
and of course
wrote 24 issues of the Astonishing X-Men
The above is a very short summary of Joss Whedon's professional accomplishments (click here for a complete list)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (series) is what got me interested in Whedon's work. If you haven't seen Buffy I can't recommend it enough. In a time when the vampire genre has become mediocre (yes I'm looking at you Twilight and Vampire Diaries) Buffy was an intelligent, funny, and pro-feminist show.
What? You thought I wouldn't include Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog (the online musical written/directed by Whedon)? Here is Act 1

Too true. Just when I thought Joss couldn't possibly be more awesome, I found out he was an atheist. His awesomeness is complete. May his next show not be on Fox.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that more of us are "coming out" of the atheist closet.
ReplyDeleteBTW...I added your place to my Featured Blog list. I hope this helps you in some significant way.
Mark @ Proud Atheists
I would have been more surprised if he was a theist. Theist's don't write such pro-feminist stuff as Buffy! But yes, the love is complete.
ReplyDelete@ Heidi - I'm looking forward to Joss's work on The Avengers movie.
ReplyDelete@ Mark - thanks I appreciate your support.
@ Not guilty - true enough! Theists are not the pro-feminist types (typically).
